Pricing & Cost Guide
AdBlue Repair Cost: What You'll Actually Pay
An AdBlue fault diagnosis and fix starts from £249 with Bolt Remaps. We quote a fixed price before any work begins, so there are no surprises. If we cannot fix the agreed fault, you pay nothing. The final figure depends on which component has failed and whether parts are needed. We come to you — fully mobile, 6am–9pm, 7 days a week including bank holidays.

Why AdBlue repair quotes vary so much
Search online and you will see AdBlue fix prices that vary wildly. The spread is not random. It reflects real differences in what has actually gone wrong and who is doing the work.
A NOx sensor swap on a Transit Custom is a different job to stripping a tank-integrated heater on a Sprinter. A main dealer prices both from the same labour rate and parts matrix. An independent mobile specialist prices on diagnosis, not guesswork.
The only honest way to quote is to read the fault codes, check live data, and then tell you exactly what needs doing and what it will cost. That is how we work.
What drives the price of an AdBlue repair
Every AdBlue system uses a handful of the same core parts. Which one has failed — and where it sits on your vehicle — determines the cost.
NOx sensor failure (P20EE, P2200, P229F)
Two NOx sensors monitor exhaust gas before and after the SCR catalyst. Sensor drift or outright failure is a common AdBlue fault across Transit, Crafter, Sprinter and VAG TDI models. Replacement is usually straightforward.
Dosing injector blockage or failure (P20BA, P207F)
The injector sprays AdBlue into the exhaust. Crystal build-up from poor-quality fluid or short journeys blocks the nozzle. Sometimes it can be cleaned; sometimes it needs replacing.
Tank-integrated heater element
Many vans — Sprinter, Crafter, Ducato — house the heater element inside the AdBlue tank. Reaching it means dropping or partially removing the tank, which adds labour time and pushes the price up.
AdBlue pump or supply module
The pump pressurises fluid to the injector. On some vehicles it is a separate unit; on others it is built into the tank assembly. A standalone pump swap is quicker and cheaper than a full module.
Wiring, connectors and corrosion
Corroded plugs and chafed looms cause intermittent faults that mimic sensor failure. Diagnosis catches this before you pay for a part you do not need.
ECU calibration or SCR efficiency code (P204F, P20E8)
Sometimes the hardware is fine but the ECU has logged a catalyst efficiency or adaptation fault. A forced regeneration, reset or recalibration can resolve it without replacing anything.
What we check before quoting
We do not guess. Every callout starts with a full diagnostic read so the quote matches the actual fault.
Fault code scan
Full OBD and manufacturer-level code read. Common codes: P20EE, P20E8, P204F, P207F, P20BA, P2200, P229F.
Live NOx sensor values
We compare upstream and downstream NOx readings in real time to confirm sensor accuracy and SCR conversion efficiency.
Dosing pressure and injector flow
We monitor AdBlue line pressure and injector duty cycle to spot blockages or pump weakness before they strand you.
Heater circuit resistance
Tank and line heater resistance is measured to confirm the element and wiring are intact — especially important in cold-weather faults.
Fluid quality and level sensor
Poor-quality or contaminated AdBlue causes crystallisation. We check concentration and confirm the level sensor is reading correctly.
SCR catalyst condition
Where codes suggest low efficiency, we assess catalyst performance with live data before recommending replacement.
Countdown status and adaptation values
We read the remaining start countdown and the ECU adaptation history to understand how far the system has degraded.
AdBlue repair cost bands
We quote a fixed price after diagnosis. Below are typical bands — your quote will be confirmed before any work starts.
Every repair includes fault clearance, an SCR system test and a written warranty.
- Diagnosis + software reset or forced regen: From £249 Covers code clearance, adaptation reset, SCR regen where no physical part has failed.
- NOx sensor replacement: Fixed price after diagnosis Price depends on vehicle model and sensor location. Transit, Crafter, Sprinter and VAG TDI are high-volume jobs for us.
- Dosing injector clean or replacement: Fixed price after diagnosis Crystal build-up can sometimes be cleaned on-site. If the injector is beyond recovery, replacement is quoted before we proceed.
- Tank heater or pump module: Fixed price after diagnosis Tank-integrated heaters on Sprinter, Crafter and Ducato require more access time. We quote the full job including labour.
- Multi-component or complex fault: Fixed price after diagnosis Where more than one part has failed or an underlying wiring fault exists, we quote the complete scope before starting.
When software is the better option
If the SCR catalyst is beyond recovery, or the cost of parts exceeds the vehicle's value, a software solution can disable the AdBlue monitoring and remove the dash warnings.
This matters if you sell the vehicle or need to return to the factory calibration.
Software is path two. We diagnose and repair first. If a repair is practical and cost-effective, that is what we recommend.
Any software change that disables AdBlue or SCR monitoring is supplied for off-road, competition or export use only, and the customer declares any modifications. It is never offered as a road-legal fix. Read our disclaimer.
Dealer vs mobile specialist: a fair comparison
A main dealer will follow the manufacturer diagnostic tree, replace the flagged part with an OE-branded component, and bill standard labour rates. The result is usually correct — but the price reflects workshop overheads, branded parts and a booking wait that can run into days.
A mobile specialist arrives at your location, diagnoses with the same manufacturer-level tooling, and fits OE-specification parts. Labour rates are lower because there is no workshop lease or service desk to fund. You keep your vehicle on your drive while the work is done.
The real saving is in diagnosis. A dealer may swap a sensor because the code points to it. We check live data first. If the sensor reads correctly and the fault is wiring or calibration, you avoid paying for a part you do not need.
How to avoid paying for parts you don't need
Insist on live-data diagnosis
A fault code alone does not confirm a failed part. NOx sensor codes, for example, can be caused by wiring faults, contaminated fluid or a blocked injector. Live data tells the full story.
Ask what no fix no fee covers
Our no fix no fee applies to the agreed outcome. If we quote to fix a specific fault and cannot resolve it, you do not pay for that work. The scope is agreed before we start.
Check the fluid before replacing hardware
Contaminated or diluted AdBlue causes crystallisation that mimics injector and heater faults. Draining and refilling with quality fluid is cheaper than a new injector.
Frequently asked questions
How much does it cost to fix AdBlue?
Diagnosis and fix starts from £249 with Bolt Remaps. The final price depends on the faulty component. We quote a fixed price after diagnosis, before work starts.
Is AdBlue repair cheaper than a dealer?
In most cases, yes. Mobile specialists have lower overheads and diagnose with live data, which avoids unnecessary part replacements. We fix on your drive with no workshop wait.
What does no fix no fee mean?
If we cannot fix the agreed fault, you do not pay for that work. The scope and price are confirmed before we start. It protects you from open-ended bills.
Why do AdBlue repair quotes vary so much?
Because the system has multiple components — sensors, injector, heater, pump — and each costs differently to replace. Where the part sits on the vehicle also affects labour. A proper diagnosis narrows the quote to the actual fault.
Can you fix AdBlue faults on a motorhome?
Yes. We work on cars, vans and motorhomes. Motorhomes often use the same drivetrains as vans — Ducato, Sprinter, Crafter — so the faults and fixes are familiar.
Do I need to pay for diagnosis separately?
Diagnosis is included in the fixed-price quote. You are not charged a separate diagnostic fee on top of the repair cost.
What warranty do I get on an AdBlue repair?
Every repair comes with a written warranty.
Can you come out early or late or on weekends?
Yes. We operate 6am–9pm, 7 days a week including bank holidays. Early-morning and evening callouts are available. Call 0203 038 8555.
